 The wait is finally over! Tickets for the Sacramento Fashion Week (SACFW) showcase are being sold to the public.

This years production is said to have a great line-up of events from launch parties, fashion forums, workshops, films  and  much more! 

 While we love and appreciate single-household name designers like Oscar, Ralph, Calvin, Donna, Vera, etc. the  local talent in our very own state is flying under the radar! This call to focus on the needs of the local fashion industry has become Sacramento Fashion Week's mission and continues to serve as a platform for fashion designers, models, talent agencies and other creative industries to make retail a profitable market in today's economy.

Not only is Sacramento Fashion Week big on spreading awareness about fashion  but helping to give back to the community. Each year SACFW partners with a non-profit organization to instill in our community togetherness and the growth of our city and the importance of the arts.

 

So whether your a student, instructor, or aspiring designer all our welcomed to attend! It's a great cause and opportunity to meet talented, up-coming and industry professionals.

With a fuel for  fashion and a position as a brand model for Abercrombie & Fitch, Naressa Valdez is beginning to make a name for herself. From featured appearances by Sacramento State's  SFA (Student Fashion Association) Spring 2012 Retro Fashion Show and bookings from Sacramento Fashion Week, the young, Italian and Black high school graduate is off to an impeccable start in the modeling business. In this exclusive Q&A, Naressa takes a moment to discuss her modeling process, what inspires her, and her plan's for  the near future.

BW: Could you tell us a little bit about what drew you to the fashion industry. What interest you in becoming a model?
NV: The makeup, fashion, and the excitement of walking the runway has always been a fascination of mine since i was very young. Because of my early fascination with modeling it would be a ideal profession, i understand it is hard work and im ready to face all my challenges and I'm looking forward to all my opportunities.
BW: Fast tracking to the future, what would be your dream job?  How do you plan to progress in this field?
NV: Definitely a victoria secret angel and by doing exactly what im doing [now], taking advantage of all photos/runway opportunities.
BW: If you could receive mentoring advice from anyone, who would it be?
NW: Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel. They are my top role models in the fashion industry.
BW:  A pretty face is one thing but what in your opinion is the best attribute of a woman?
NW: I believe a woman's best attribute comes from her heart and soul which easily flows outwardly, enhancing her physical being.
BW: The essence of modeling is to capture everyone woman. How do you pose for photo shoots?
NV: Different photographers or designers each pick there own look so I make it my job to portrait the look they are going for.
BW: What are your tips for looking like a million bucks?
NW: physical cleanliness is always a must, great makeup and shiny hair always does the trick
BW: Off camera, who is the real Naressa? How would you describe your personal style?
NV: My personality is fun, light-hearted, and go with the flow. My style reflects my personality-fun, sleek, young, nothing over the top.
BW: And lastly what can we expect to see you  doing next?
NV: I'm checking out an audition for a new reality show with Naomi Campbell called The Faces of L.A. Perhaps going to look into a few agencies out in L.A.
